Milpa farming usage of slash and burn has came under fire in the last month as it is believed to contribute to recent environmental hazards. This led to the issuing of Statutory Instrument number 59 of 2020 by the Government of Belize which prohibits Milpa and bans burning fields and vegetation altogether. In our premier episode, Milpa, the environment and the government, The Grey Spaces Podcast goes beyond and tells the story from all angles.
